So far we have identified the purpose of emotions, and introduced the garden analogy as a metaphor or framework to care for our emotions the same way we would cultivate a real garden of flowers. Well, one of the first things you have to do in a real garden is to plant the right seeds. So let’s start planting.

Okay. Well, since there is such an obvious mind-body connection, we all know that our emotions affect our bodies and our bodies affect our emotions. In fact, emotions are basically a summary of the brain’s interpretation of everything entering our five senses and everything happening in our bodies at any given moment. And all of that combined is a ton of information, right. So emotions are basically a shorthand that kind of summarizes all of that information in one distinct sensation.
