Now, I’m going to walk you through a clinical case example of a 41-year-old woman who fears that she has unintentionally lied to someone and that this would mean that she’s an immoral person.

So, she engages in checking compulsions to try to figure out if she has lied to others. And what we’re going to walk through is an example of what the post-creative hopelessness processing would sound like with this client.

So I would say, “So what do you make of what you see here?” And the client says, “I don’t know. It’s kind of sad. I’ve been dealing with this my whole life, and I’ve never looked at it like this before. I don’t like it.”
