Meet Your Instructor: Dennis Hannon, Psy.D.

Dennis Hannon (he/him/his), Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist practicing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is the Chief Executive Officer and Owner of the Center for Psychological Growth and Resilience, a clinic providing evidenced-based, culturally informed therapy services rooted in the principles of acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and other mindfulness-based strategies. Dr. Hannon completed his postdoctoral fellowship and predoctoral internship at Mental Health Systems and received his doctorate in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dennis has extensive experience working with adults and adolescents living with severe and complex mental and physical illnesses across various levels of care, spanning from inpatient care units to outpatient individual therapy. In addition to clinical practice, he serves as Co-Chair of the Minnesota Psychological Association’s Legislative Affairs Committee. In 2022, he was honored and humbled to receive the Minnesota Psychological Association’s Early Career Psychologist Award for significant contributions to the field and discipline of psychology in the state of Minnesota for efforts related to advocacy, legislative work, and client care. Dr. Hannon has many years of experience supervising practicum students and doctoral interns and has enjoyed working as an adjunct professor teaching master’s level clinicians. His favorite aspect of working in this field is having the privilege to walk with clients on their journeys to empower themselves, harness their own resilience, identify their strengths and resources, and create lives in which they want to be present.
