Treatment Goals
Immediate Goals
The immediate goals agreed collaboratively with Hannah were small and manageable. ACT is born of behaviorism, so we think in terms of necessary behaviors, but are also attuned to the fact that behavior change is difficult. Most of the time, people need to make small moves to succeed. Hannah’s goals were of course consistent with her values:
- Some writing in the form of journaling
- More physical activity, such as walking and/or athletic exercise
- Socializing, reaching out to local friends who had also returned from college
- Looking for a part-time internship or job to create some structure and momentum in daily life
