Introduction to Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) was pioneered by Segal, Teasdale, and Williams to prevent depressive relapses. Originally based on mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), MBCT combines elements of cognitive behavioral therapy and is applicable in both group and individual settings. Daily "home practice," formerly called homework, enhances skills between sessions by linking thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations.
